May 16, 2025

Embark on a captivating journey through tantalizing flavors, breathtaking destinations, and inspired living.

Hello & welcome

Looking for a simple, impressive summer appetiser? These radish chips with horseradish dip are perfect for warm weather entertaining. When these glorious summer days arrive, there’s nothing better than simple, fresh food that lets you enjoy the sunshine rather than fuss in the kitchen.

The beauty of this recipe lies in its brilliant simplicity and contrasting elements. The radish chips provide a crisp crunch and peppery flavour, perfectly balanced by the smooth, cool cream cheese dip. The horseradish and radishes pair perfectly together!

There’s something magical about these long summer days, when the sunshine stretches into the evening and the garden practically hums with life. As the temperature rises, there’s no better time to gather friends in the garden for impromptu entertaining.

Radishes are at their peak right now—crisp, peppery, and bursting with freshness. When sliced paper-thin, they transform into delicate chips that provide the ideal base for this creamy, zesty dip.

Serve this alongside a chilled glass of crisp white wine as friends arrive, or bring it to the garden table as a refreshing starter before the main barbecue event. It’s light enough not to overwhelm subsequent courses but substantial enough to satisfy those first hunger pangs.

Summer entertaining at its finest—unfussy, vibrant, and utterly delicious.

Radish Chips with Horseradish, Dill & Lime Cream Cheese Dip

Ingredients

Serves 4-6 as an appetiser

  • 2 bunches (about 300g) fresh radishes, washed and trimmed
  • 200g full-fat cream cheese, softened (at room temperature)
  • 2 tbsp fresh dill, finely chopped
  • Zest of 1 lime
  • 1 tbsp lime juice
  • 1 tsp prepared horseradish
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • Extra dill sprigs, chopped

Method

Make the dip:

  1. In a medium bowl, beat the cream cheese with a wooden spoon until smooth.
  2. Add the chopped dill, lime zest, lime juice, horseradish, garlic powder, black pepper, and salt. Mix thoroughly until well combined.
  3. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
  4. Transfer to a small serving bowl.

Prepare the radish chips:

  1. Using a sharp knife, slice the radishes into paper-thin rounds.
  2. To serve, place the bowl of dip in the centre of your serving platter and arrange the radish chips around the dip.
  3. Garnish the dip with extra dill sprigs.
  4. Serve immediately. The radish chips will start to lose some crispness after about 30 minutes but will remain enjoyable for several hours at room temperature.
